Course of the day Naemoor / Cowden. Arndean is open for casual play
From Monday 28th October till further notice, we are now on 'winter rules' which means no play from the fairways (apart from beyond the white stakes near the greens). Please move balls to the semi rough. In addition Relief from an embedded ball 'through the green' will apply. We would appreciate the co operation of all players as these rules have served us well over the years in preserving the course during the winter.

We are pleased to introduce our Open Programme for 2014. In common with a number of clubs our individual ladies open has seen a decline in numbers so the format is changing this year to a Tri Am!
We have also scheduled a Texas Scramble Pairs Open in July. We were hoping to run this for the first time last September but the weather intervened, however the large number of entries we had indicates it will be a popular event this year

We were eagerly looking forward to hosting a full field for our first ever Texas Scramble Open, but sadly the awful weather forecast proved accurate and play was impossible. Thanks to those early starters who made the journey (more in hope than expectation), and to the greens staff and members who turned out early to try and get the event on.We will not be rescheduling the event this year but we will include it in our 2014 Open Programme which will be published in December.
Thanks to everyone who entered. We have not cashed the cheques of those who prepaid, and these have now been shredded.

Lady Captain, Alex Glaister welcomed Muckhart ladies and visitors from 13 different Clubs to the Muckhart Ladies Open, sponsored by Xltec Solutions Ltd, on Sunday. It took place in testing weather conditions with Home players taking away most of the prizes.
The one notable exception was the winner. Visitor and last-minute entrant, Dianne Taylor (Lochgelly) showed excellent golfing judgement first by deciding to enter at the last minute and then by accurately navigating the course and maintaining focus in the blustery conditions. She won by one stroke with a nett 72.
Best home player with nett 73 was Laura Walker who won first scratch with a gross 76. Other prize-winners include 2nd Handicap Maureen Richardson (Muckhart) who beat fellow member Linda Sommerville into 3rd with a better inward half. Anita Collins (Muckhart) came 4th in the Handicap prizes with a nett 75. Another Muckhart lady, Eilidh Watson, won 2nd Scratch with a gross score of 78. Barbara Ryan (Tillicoultry) won longest drive for a Bronze player. Jen Saxton (Muckhart) was her Silver counterpart. Jean Hillis (Tulliallan) and Maureen MacPherson (Muckhart) won nearest the pin in Bronze and Silver categories respectively.
Nicola Robertson (Dunblane) was the only player to score a two at any hole, the monetary prize for which should give an added boost her total earnings this season.
Alex Glaister would like to thank all competitors for supporting the Muckhart Ladies Open 2013 and Xltec Solutions Ltd for their generous sponsorship.
The next Ladies Open is a Greensome on Sunday the 11th of August, sponsored by Strutt & Parker.

Scottish veterans are a hardy bunch and this was demonstrated fully today as our Veterans Open went ahead despite persistent rain. After a delayed start the course coped very well indeed and our thanks go to the greens staff for working so hard to get the event on and not disappoint our visitors from all over the country. At the end of a long day our own Boyd Houston produced the round of the season to score 82-18-64 after starting with a 7 to win by 6 shots..
Pictured with the John Pettigrew Cup is winner Boyd flanked by our Captain Ian Barker and John Pettigrew who also took charge of scoring for his own event!.

After a dull and wet start the weather gods were kind to a full field in our Mixed Open for the Mitchell Trophy. Many compliments were received regards the condition of the course and thanks to all who worked hard to ensure the day went well, especially our President Chris Page. Pictured are Scratch Winners, R&M Jamieson of Tillicoultry with Captain Ian Barker..
Given the forecast you wouldn't have got any odds on our Senior Open going ahead and finishing but that is precisely what we managed today.
It turned out mist on the highest part of Arndean was the biggest danger but thankfully that didn't last long and some sterling work by the greenstaff on 15th ensured we completed the open. The afternoon players got the best of the weather but congratulations go to one of the early starters R Edrich from Haddington who won the overall event with 80-13-67. Another early starter, our own Cameron Ferguson scooped the scratch prize with a superb 72.
Unfortunately we suffered a number of late call offs due more to the forecast than the actual weather, but we are grateful to the 90 players who turned up and played some great stuff, with many compliments from our visitors on how well the course coped with the weather and how good and true the greens were.

An early shower didn't dampen the enthusiasm of 130 competitors. The course played its full length and some interesting pin positions ensured the low handicap field had a challenging day. Congratulations to the following prize winners
