  • Juniors Winter Golf

Unfortunately due to the weather and the closure of courses at Muckhart, our proposed 9 hole junior winter golf league cannot go ahead.
We need all 3 courses to be open in order to run the junior winter league on the spare nine.
Apologies but we will review should the weather improve and all 3 courses come into play.

  • Muckhart Juniors Excel!

    Race to Kingsbarns (RTK)

4 Muckhart Lads (Jamie Roberts, Finlay Hamilton, Andrew Thornton and Oliver Devlin) qualified for P&KC Race to Kingsbarns. The finals day was held at Kingsbarns on Saturday 24 October. Three MGC lads finished in the Top 10 Scratch competition and all 4 finished in the Top 11 of the handicap section.

Well done guys, excellent results and what a fabulous experience for you all.

    Some unofficial facts –
    - There were around 150 boys/girls that played in at least 1 of the RTK opens. These 150 players represented 26 different clubs from P&K, Angus, Fife, Clacks and Lothians.
    - Muckhart and Blairgowrie are the only clubs to have 4 qualifiers in the final 24.
    - The 4 Muckhart qualifiers have between 3 & 7 more years as juniors!
    - Muckhart has 1 qualifier from each of the 4 RTK categories i.e. Over 14 Scratch, Over 14 Hcp, 14 and under Scratch and 14 and under Hcp.
    - 13 Muckhart juniors played in at least 1 RTK open. 2nd only to Blairgowrie who had 15 players participate in at least 1 open.

As mentioned, it has been a fantastic year for the Muckhart Juniors!

Muckhart Junior team lost a very close final today over the Lansdowne course at Blairgowrie GC.

The final result was 3-2 to Craigie Hill Juniors with the match being decided by the last pairing on the 18th green. A very exciting finish.

    JUNIOR NEWSLETTER - 13th EDITION 26th July 2015

Hello Juniors - I hope you are all enjoying the summer holidays. It’s good to see you all playing golf ; playing the course helps you practise what you’ve been taught during the weekly coaching sessions and the more you play, the better you’ll become.

2015/16 Development Centre Coaching Programme :

The programme is ideal for any junior golfer between the age of 11 and 20 with an official golf handicap who aspires to improve their game, and includes national skills assessments to monitor their progress and help them meet their potential.

How do I join the programme? Players must book during the booking period which is through the ClubGolf website. Current Scottish Golf Development Coaches, Areas and Counties can also nominate players.

There is a cost for this. ALL PLAYER BOOKINGS WILL CLOSE ON SUNDAY 31st AUGUST 2015.

starts on Thursday 20th August for 5 weeks ending on Thursday 17th September

I have managed to secure funding under the ClubGolf Roving Professional Programme for 10 hours of professional coaching. This will take the format of 5 x2 hour sessions at Muckhart on a Thursday –time to be confirmed but it will be during the normal coaching sessions. This is aimed at Stage 1 and Stage 2 golfers so one hour for five weeks will be dedicated to Stage 1 golfers and 1 hour for five weeks will be given over to Stage 2 golfers. These will be group lessons and I hope to have a maximum of 5 or 6 per group. This will be on a first come, first served basis.

There is a small charge for this : The 5 weeks of coaching for one hour to Stage 1 and Stage 2 is £10 ie £2 a session, which I think is very good value for a professional golfer's services.

This programme will be repeated again next year in April/May 2016 with a similar charge.

If you are interested please either email me or telephone me as soon as possible so I have an indication of numbers.

    Best wishes, Jan
