Congratulations to all who participated in last weekend’s Club Championships. Well done to :
Euan Duthie - Winner of The Alison Houston Trophy and Junior Club Champion
James Barratt - Winner of The John Kidd Trophy and Gents Club Champion
Kathryn Champness - Winner of the Bronze Section Ladies Club Championship
Marc Foster - Winner of The McLaren Trophy Handicap Championship

Ex Ladies Captain 1901-1992, Sheila McLellan, a member of Muckhart Golf Club for over 34 years, died earlier this week. The flag has been lowered in respect. The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday 28th of September in Dollar Parish Church at 11.30am. Sheila was originally from Dollar but latterly was in sheltered accommodation in Tillicoultry, then Alloa. All friends from Muckhart Golf Club are respectfully invited to the service.

Andrew Thornton and Finlay Hamilton were selected to play in the U18 Perth & Kinross County Team last weekend and Andrew had the joint lowest round of the day with a solid par 70!
Andrew has also been invited to play in the Scottish Golf Junior Champion of Champions event at The Dukes, St Andrews this weekend. We wish him good luck.
And it doesn’t end there. Andrew has also been selected by Scottish Golf as a member of The Scottish Golf Performance Academy Squad for 2018, only 40 young players from across Scotland receive this support. What a fantastic opportunity.

CATERING - Catering will be available most days between 11am – 4pm.

Liz got home from hospital on Tuesday evening and is being well cared for by David who thanks you for all the messages, cards and flowers. He plans to get back to golf next week.

    Juniors - Thursday 28th September
    Ladies - Friday 3rd November
    Gents - Friday 10th November
Senior Men - Wednesday 15th November

Brian has an end of season sale on, so don’t miss out on getting yourself a bargain! But remember the best golf purchase you can make, is for a few lessons to sort out bad habits or tidy up “something that’s gone wrong”. We can all benefit from our Professionals advice.

Tickets are on sale behind the bar for both the Race Night on the 28th of October and Marilyn’s Festive Entertainment on the 16th of December. Buy them now!

Golf Monthly Journalist Jezz Ellwood will be visiting our Club on the 28th of September. He travels the world playing and reporting on courses which makes for interesting reading. He will be teeing off at 3.30pm with Jack Cullen.

Alison Mackie from Clackmannanshire Active Schools is bringing a group of pupils to Muckhart Golf Club to play in a mini-Ryder Cup tournament on the 2nd of October between 3.30pm – 5.30pm. She is looking for a couple of volunteers from the Club to join them on the course. Volunteers will not be required to play golf. If interested please let me know and I will pass on details to Alison.

Thank you to Ian Barker who this week assisted the Greens Team in clearing the burn on the 18th. This was back breaking work, so greatly appreciated.
Thanks also to Dave McGinigal, who has offered us assistance with groundworks. An offer we are extremely grateful for and are exploring further.

We are approaching the end of season but the work doesn’t stop around the Club House, in many ways this is the ideal time to be busy as it causes less disruption. I will be putting up a list of jobs which we need to do and before we bring in external companies, I would appreciate if any of our membership could assist first in the hope of saving money for the Club.

One example of work to be done, is within the bar / lounge area. We would like to spruce up the bar, it is tired and not particularly practical in its layout. Relocating the till, replacing shelves, flooring and a fresh coat of paint is one idea…..happy to hear yours?

Our Junior Captain, Euan Duthie, is heading off to a rural Tanzanian village to work voluntarily as a teacher at a local local school and to help improve living conditions in the village. To raise funds for his trip, Euan is going to cycle the 'North Coast 500’ next month. This famous journey starts in Inverness and follows a route round the spectacular northern coast of Scotland. The whole trip is over 500 miles and Euan plans to complete it in 6 days! Euan says "Education and living conditions in Tanzania are a lot worse than we take for granted in Britain. I am going out to Tanzania to do what I can to make a difference to the children of the village and give them a chance of a better future. I would be very grateful for the support of Muckhart Golf Club and our members”.
As a club, we fully endorse Euan’s efforts and on his behalf would like to ask for your support. Sponsorship donations can be made through the following link:
