LOCAL RULES
1. OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 18.2)
Beyond any boundary wall, fence or line of white posts.
2. PENALTY AREAS (Rule 17)
Penalty areas are defined by red posts. If a player’s ball lies in a penalty area they should proceed under Rule 17.
3. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Including Abnormal Course Conditions and ruts made by tractor) (Rule 16)
The following are designated as Immovable Obstructions and free relief can be taken under Rule 16.1b.
3a. Staked Trees
Staked, tubed or wired trees are no play zones and if they interfere with the lie of the ball, stance or area of intended swing free relief MUST be taken under Rule16.1f. Drop without penalty within one club-length of nearest point of relief.
3b. Fixed Sprinkler Heads
All fixed sprinkler heads are immovable obstructions and relief without penalty is available under Rule 16.1b. In addition, if a ball lies in the general area and an immovable obstruction on or within two club-lengths of the putting green and within two club-lengths of the ball intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may take relief without penalty as follows: The ball must be lifted and dropped at the nearest point of complete relief to where the ball lay that a) is not nearer the hole, b) avoids intervention and c) is not in a penalty area or on a putting green.
Exception: There is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.
3c. Tracks and Paths
All artificially surfaced tracks and paths are immovable obstructions (Rule 16.1a applies). The ball may be played as it lies, or relief may be taken without penalty by lifting and dropping the ball within one club-length of and not nearer the hole than the nearest point of relief.
Exception: If the ball lies on a bridge or a path through a penalty area the ball will be deemed to be in the penalty if it lies between red lines or lies above the penalty area defined by red posts
on either side of the path/bridge. The ball must be played as it lies or declared unplayable. Rule 19 applies.
3d. No Play Zones/Ground Under Repair (G.U.R.)
If a ball is lying in or touching No Play Zones or G.U.R., or when No Play Zones or G.U.R. interferes with the player’s stance or the area of their intended swing the player MUST lift the ball and drop it without penalty within one club-length of, and not nearer the hole from the nearest point of relief.
3e. Rocky Outcrops
If an outcrop of rock on the fairway, semi rough and rough interferes with the proper playing of the game, it may be deemed as G.U.R. Broken ground does not constitute an outcrop of rock.
4. LOOSE IMPEDIMENTS (Rule 15.1)
Stones in bunkers are loose impediments and they may be removed (they are a natural object.) However, if the ball moves when moving a loose impediment, your ball must be replaced on its original spot and the player incurs a one penalty stroke. Rule 15.1b applies.
